William A. Young (President)

Mr. Young is founder/president of the Young Center and co-creator of the organization’s California Youth Think Tank and Youth Ambassador Service programs. > Biography

Helen P. Young (Executive Director)

Ms. Young is an educator-counselor with 20+ years in higher education. She holds a BA in Human Services & Adolescent Counseling and an MA in Education Counseling from CSU Dominguez Hills.

Julie Carson (Facilitator-Team Leader)

Ms. Carson is a distinguished educator and recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award from the CA Council for Adult Education. She holds a BA degree in History from UC Davis.

Jerome Roberts (Facilitator-Team Leader)

Mr. Roberts is a professional educator with 20+ years experience. He holds a BA and MA in Education from CSU Northridge, and an MA in Education Admin. from CSU Long Beach.

Les Walker (Facilitator-Team Leader)

Mr. Walker graduated from Texas Southern University with a BA in Sociology. He has 20+ years of professional experience in counseling and human resource development.

Dr. Darlene V. Willis (Instructor-Education Advisor)

Dr. Willis is former Dean of Students at San Diego State University. She holds a BA, MA and Ph.D. in Psychology, and is co-founder of College Bound San Diego and Empowering Parents.

Dr. Lewis M. King (Instructor-Education Advisor)

Dr. King is professor of human behavior at UCLA, a Senior Fellow at the National Center for Health Behavioral Change, and creator of the Intentional Civility training model.

Fredericka L. McGee, J.D. (Legal Advisor)

Ms. McGee is general counsel to CA State Assembly Speaker John Pẽrez and served in the same capacity to Speakers Karen Bass, Fabian Nunez, and Antonio Villaraigosa.

Juan L. Young II (Facilitator-Team Leader)

Juan is a graduate of CSU San Bernardino and holds a BA in Psychology. He is former Director of the Young Center for Success Pre-School and is a professional motivational speaker.

Kevin Shallert (Facilitator-Team Leader)

Kevin graduated from UC Channel Islands with a BA degree in Political Science. He is a distinguished Young Center program alum and also works as an analyst for the Rand Corporation.

Ashleigh Renteria (Facilitator)

Ashleigh holds a BA degree in Psychology from Notre Dame University. She is a distinguished Young Center program alum and 2006 California State Youth Ambassador.
