President Young Speaks at Black History Month Celebration

On Monday, February 24th, President William A. Young was the keynote speaker at a Black History Month Celebration at Los Angeles Valley College. The event was held in the Monarch Hall Theater on the LAVC campus. Mr. Young spoke to a packed audience of students and faculty members - encouraged and inspired students to continue their pursuit of academic excellence and to utilize their knowledge and learned skills to serve their families, their community, and humanity. Following his keynote address, Mr. Young engaged his audience in a lively Q&A session that lasted well into the afternoon. Inspired by Mr. Young's address, many students stayed afterward to seek his wisdom and advice on their college and career choices. The event, which coincides with Black History Month, was sponsored by the LA Valley College UMOJA program under the direction of Dr. Elliott Coney.
